Analyzer Desktop Quick Reference Guide
This brief guide is designed to help you get started with the Analyzer Desktop. If you need further information or help, please contact support@ww-da.com or call +44 1438 316267.
Getting Started – Opening a Data Cube
When you have clicked on Update Data to make sure you have the latest data …
Click on the Data Cubes section of Analyzer Desktop to show the cube you want to open. Click on the + sign to expand the folder views. When the cube you require is displayed in the Data Cubes window (right) double click on the file to open it

Alternatively, click on Open, Open Cube and explore to find the cube you require. [This is useful if you have saved the cube in a location other than the default location ….. C:/Program Files/Analyzer/Cubes] Double click on the Cube file to open

Setting up the View/s You Want
Once you have opened a data cube, you will want to see the data in a way, or multiple ways that immediately mean something to you.
The Analyzer Desktop uses ‘drag-and-drop' and filtering so it is easy to see the data in the way you want. The principles are as follows:
Drag and drop boxes (e.g. Country, Year, Week or any other visible dimension) to the Row or Column area to create multi-dimensional views of the data

If the full data cannot be shown in the visible area, a handle bar will be shown. Drag this horizontally or vertically to see the data you need.
You can use filtering of the Rows or Columns (drop down menus) to show only the data you want.

Once you have set up a data view that shows data how you want it, you can then filter the data
For example, set up the Analyzer so that it shows Brand on the left and Year and Quarter in the Columns
You can then filter the data on any of the dimensions shown at the top of the Analyzer screen. This will include, for example Country
Click on the drop down (Right arrow) for Country and select the country you want to see

To select a single country, click on the ‘-‘ sign to deselect all countries, click on the Country you require, then click on the ‘ ü ' bottom right of the drop down menu

Alternatively, click on the Country/ies you want, click on the ‘*' on the drop-down menu to reverse the selection, then click on the ‘ ü ' bottom right of the drop down menu
The filter you have applied will be shown at the bottom of the Analyzer Desktop screen so you always know what you are viewing Saving the Data Views You Want
Once you have the data view set up, you can save this view (Template) for future use. By calling up this Template, you will get the same data view, even when the data has been updated e.g. another week's or month's data has been downloaded.
When you have created a data view you want to save, follow these steps:
Click on File, Save
An explorer screen will appear showing the ‘Client Pre-Defined Cubes' folder with a file type ‘Report Layout'
Select the folder you wish to save the Template (Report Layout) in
Give the Template a name e.g. ‘Brand by Quarter'
Click on Save
This Template will now be available for you to recall whenever you need it
You can use this approach to set up Templates for multiple countries
Using a data view you have set up or a Template you have saved, apply a filter to the data e.g. select a country from the county drop-down menu. [The country selected will be shown at the bottom of the Analyzer window]
If you have selected e.g. Germany , select File, Save (as above) and identify the Template so you know it contains Germany data e.g. ‘Germany Brand by Quarter'

Click on Save
You can repeat this process to save multiple Templates for each county
Creating and Saving Charts of the Data You Want
You can create and save charts of your favourite data views.
When you have a data view set up, click on the area marked ‘Chart' bottom right of the Analyzer Desktop or on the ‘Chart On/Off' icon on the top application bar. This will display the data in Chart View.
You can then use the charting functions to set up the chart in the way you want to see it, including chart type, colours, data labels and a wide range of other chart customising features
Once you have created the type and style of chart you want, you can save this as a Template by clicking on File, Save .. and following the same procedure as in Section 3 above.
You can save multiple charts e.g. one per country, using the filtering and Template Saving process. Alternatively, you can set up one chart Template, call this up and apply for example a country filter to create different country charts.
